“Cultural Mediation: objects, models and audiences” gathers texts from some of the most significant cultural institutions in the Northern region of Portugal, who are invited to present, in their own words, their performance in the area of cultural mediation. Spaces, means, strategies, teams and audiences are approached in order to share experience and knowledge, addressing such diverse areas as
Contemporary, Ancient and Rock Art, History, Territory, Architecture, Theatre, and Science.
Seeking to share enough to spark a debate, the dialogue opens with a thought-provoking text by Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins: “Everyone has the right to be involved and participate in the enhancement of cultural heritage, according to his or her own choices, as a way of ensuring the right to take part freely in cultural life. Hence the importance of cultural mediation, that is, of promoting and deepening citizens’ participation in the management and preservation of heritage”.
